Cole Haan Hand-Stained Pebble Grain Leather Kindle DX Cover , Black
I bought this cover based on the numerous Kindle 2 Cole Haan cover reviews I read. Every review boasted about the quality and supple feel of the product. Although those statements ARE true and this product IS well made, I don’t think it is practical if you plan on taking your Kindle DX outside of the house. I am the type of person that likes to take care of my products and get everything from the decal covers to the screen protectors to make sure my product has some type of insurance for everyday use. I did not feel comfortable just having a slab of leather over the screen. Someone suggested putting a rubber band over the case to secure it, but in my opinion this is too nice of a case to be cheapened by a rubber band.
Update 30 Dec 09:
After searching for the perfect case for my reading enjoyment I have tried five, yes, five different cases for my Kindle DX. The cases that I tried after the Cole Haan cover was the M-Edge Latitude Jacket, M-Edge Platform Jacket, a Kindle DX Sock, and Piel Frama Cover. The M-Edge covers are great for securing the Kindle DX, but the comfort they provide for reading is mediocre. I am a female, there forth have smaller hands, and the M-Edge Jackets proved to be too bulky. The M-Edge Latitude when folded upon itself hurt my left hand when I held the device for an extended period of time. The M-Edge Platform served well to prop up the Kindle for hands-free reading in bed or at the kitchen table, but, again, when I held the device with the cover for an extended period of time, it was both bulky and tiring. Don’t get me started on the Kindle Sock. The sock provides the least amount of protection of any form. It is just basically sticking your Kindle in, well, a sock. Needless to say I have returned all these cases.
I heard from a co-worker about the Piel Frama Kindle line. I had never heard of this maker before, so I did my research, especially since I have already gone through four cases already. Piel Frama, like Cole Haan, offers a well made leather good, but there is a lot more stability in the case. Piel Frama offers more of a hard leather cover as opposed to the soft leather front offered by Cole Haan. The leather is supple, low profile, and does not add that much weight to the Kindle DX at all. This is the case I have been waiting for. If you are looking for an alternate with more secure features, I highly recommend the Piel Frama cover over the Cole Haan cover.
And , yes, it has compartments for paper and business cards…
