Cole Haan Hand-Stained Pebble Grain Leather Cover for 2nd Generation Kindle,Black
Like some other reviewers, I also feel that an expensive product should work BETTER than the “stock” product (Amazon’s own Kindle 2 cover).
Alas, it does not.
Amazon’s cover has clips (the Kindle is designed to accept them) that fasten the Kindle 2 into the cover without obscuring any of the functions.
The Cole Haan cover has bungee straps that partially cover one of the buttons and COMPLETELY cover the power button! This is not a mere annoyance; it is actually difficult to turn the Kindle on with the elastic strap covering the power switch. One has to dig a fingernail under the strap and catch the edge of the button to slide it into the “on” position.
Didn’t someone at CH test this product? Even for a second?
The leather itself was gorgeous…if it didn’t work WORSE than the cheapo cover from Amazon I’d be very pleased with it.
But I’m not paying MORE money to get LESS functionality.
Sorry Cole Haan…this one’s coming back at ya.

I love the Cole Haan cover.
It is soft and very flexible. I keep it on my Kindle as I am reading.

The Cole Haan leather is exactly as you’d expect…Very high quality. But I was not very impressed with the case for the cost. It doesn’t cover all of the right side as many have said. Plus the flimsy style of the case, while very nice looking and comfortable to hold, isn’t the best for the clip on light. I returned this in favor of one of the Oberon cases. I also have the Amazon case and prefer it to the Cole Haan.

From the reviews I’ve read the biggest complaints seem to be that the cover seems to small and the business card pocket is useless and gets in the way. It bugged be too…so much so that I finally held my breath and cut the pocket stiching away with an Xacto knife. If done carefully, you’ll never know it was there. The cover now lays completely flat when closed, and fits perfectly. It also lays much flatter when folded back since that silly pocket is gone.

The black pebble grain cover does indeed have the problems mentioned by others but the brown smooth leather cover does not. I received both today. The smooth one covers the entire Kindle and the elastic does not interfere with the slide switch. Also the smooth one is thicker, sturdier, feels better, and will protect the K better if dropped. The brown smooth cover is beautiful , elegant, a joy to hold and look at. To keep the cover flat try a book bungee from Levenger. Also recommend something to protect the cover from scratches when carrying. I’m using a thin elastic cover from Levenger’s-perhaps no longer sold. I very much like my red m edge leather cover for the K1 but the Cole Haan is SO much nicer.
